The lovely and talented Lydia Netzer sat in on our workshop this week, and had a number of informative and cool things to say about writing one's first novel.
She also recently posted a number of those same things at the Book Pregnant blog here:
Five Good Reasons You Won't Finish Your Novel.
This is somewhat related to my last post, but in the other direction: some ironic encouragement to keep going on that writing project, rather than permission to let it go.
Enjoy! :)

Date: 2012-11-17 07:06 pm (UTC)I think I'm somewhere between #3 & #4. Now that I think I know what the story is going to be about, I have to really look at the scenes I already came up with and figure out if they still work.
It's so hard not to throw everything into the book; especially if you're working on a potential series. Sometimes I come up with (I think) this really cool thing that can happen in Book Two. But then I know series are not guarantees, so maybe I should include it in Book One because it's AWESOME...but then it doesn't really fit. Ah, the cycle of writing.
Off-Topic: Thanks for the rep on AW. I lurk a lot on there; so whenever I do pop up to give some sort of advice, I'm glad it's appreciated. :)
