Oh, man, I didn't even consider that angle. Lazy writing, indeed. The thing is I think I notice is more now because I catch myself doing it? Going, "Crap. I need to get Character A to Plot Point X but I forgot to do the setup. Shoehorn in something, quick!" It happens, but it is noticeable when it does.
BTW, I did get your email for "Cave Draconem"--thank you! I do want to write a reply but just haven't dragged myself away from Supernatural long enough to do it yet. I will though, and I'm reading them! :)
